Nokia,the Finnish company with great phone fame ,when its handset business bought by Microsoft in 2013,is still looking for chances. And Nokia released its new product-OZO VR camera in July,2015. And from September,2015,you can preorders for the OZO virtual reality camera with $5,000.
The Nokia OZO has eight eight lenses,and each lenses have a synchronized 2K x 2K camera sensor . The eight sensors record to a 500GB solid state drive that can hold up to 45 minutes of footage. Those lenses cover a 360° x 180° viewing angle and produce a 3D image at 30fps with a 10 stop dynamic range and base sensitivity of ISO 400. The camera records 8 channels of raw video and audio to a 500GB SSD. The final video can be composed at 8K x 4K resolution at 10-bit color depth. There are eight mics to capture multi-directional sound too with 64dB S/N and 120dB max SPL. The camera has built-in Wi-Fi for wireless control, though that works only with OS X 10.10 Yosemite. The whole thing weighs 4.2kg (9.3lbs) with battery.
The Nokia OZO costs $60,000 when the price of accessories are nor included. However,you have to pay a $5,000 deposit to pre-order .
OZO VR camera is designed for games and making 3D films that can be watched, explored and experienced through a virtual-reality headset.
For Hollywood types, OZO VR camera has large market for the camera’s live monitoring and rapid playback function. The functions make the directer make VR in real time.
Nokia thinks its approach is superior to any other device on the market, given the addition of surround sound capture, among other things.
