Leica released the newest product-the Leica M (Typ 262). The camera is without video recording and live mode. Together with the Leica M (Typ 240), M-P (Typ 240) and the M Monochrom (Typ 246), this new camera rounds out the digital rangefinder family and stands for the M philosophy in its purest form.
The Leica M (Typ 262) has a 24 megapixel CMOS sensor with a Leica M lens mount.
Compared with M Typ 240,the camera is without lacks any kind of video recording and live mode, which aims to take the consumer focus back on photography. The display on the back is only for looking at images after shooting them and for the simplified menu, which Leica boasts is only two pages long.
However, a parts of Leica M (Typ 262) fans thik is not a big problem. Because there are some HD display like Wayshion HD camera monitor on the market that can be added on the camera to monitor the images in real time.
The camera is also now more discreet, with a considerably quieter shutter cocking mechanism than the Typ 240 with a shutter speed of 2 frames per second. In normal continuous mode, the M (Typ 262) has the shooting speed as the M (Typ 240), which is 3 frames per second.
The Leica M (Typ 262) also has a aluminum top plate instead of brass, which makes the camera 100g lighter. On the back are dedicated buttons for white balance and ISO and on the top is a mechanical dial for setting the shutter speed. There is no built-in flash but the camera has a hotshoe for accessories.
In addition to its purist looks, the hardly audible shutter of the Leica M (Typ 262) also guarantees maximum discreetness when shooting. An invaluable advantage in photographic situations where blending into the scene is vital. As an aid to this, the camera features a shutter cocking system that is considerably quieter in single exposure mode than that of the M (Typ 240) and enables a shutter release frequency of up to two frames per second. In continuous mode, the M (Typ 262) has the same sequential shooting speed as its sibling models and shoots up to three frames per second.
The Leica M (Typ 262) will be on sale end of November and is priced at $5,195.
